Type of Assignment:Length of Assignment: 2 year contract with possible 1 year option
Description of Project or Company/Organization:
Calian has won a contract to deliver vehicle maintenance services in support of the Department of National Defence’s (DND) activities at Canadian Forces Army bases across Canada.
Job Description:
The mechanic is responsible for the following but is not limited to:
- Provide vehicle troubleshooting and diagnostic repairs
- Perform Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) rework tasks and other general assembly tasks
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as required
- Conduct first, second and third line repairs, modifications on vehicles
- Maintain and operate military vehicles in accordance with OEM specifications and procedures and any applicable Military Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTO) or procedure
- Monitor parts usage and report on any materials issues
- Provide data to assist in monitoring and tracking project budget and status
- Prepare input for various management log reports
- Perform in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Accept and be able to work in confined spaces
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Hold a provincial journeyman mechanic certificate OR a military vehicle technician QL5 qualification
- A minimum of 24 months experience in the last 5 years working on automotive systems
- Posses a valid provincial driver’s license
- Posses or pass courses covering DDC and Safe backing course
- Experience with previous use of CFTO or equivalent technical manuals
- Provincially certified and hold a valid card indicating the successful completion of an environment awareness course in recycling, recovery and handling procedures of halocarbon refrigerants
