Job Description:
The Clinical Psychologist is responsible for the provision of mental health care (psychological assessment and psychotherapy) within the mental health program of the Canadian Forces, to authorized patients as per the Spectrum of care.
The Clinical Psychologist works within a comprehensive and integrated mental health system. The Psychologist functions as a member of a multidisciplinary mental health care team to provide services that promotes wellness and provides timely interventions that support and empower authorized patients to achieve their highest level of functioning. Some of the activities that can be expected from this professional group include:
- Provides clinical leadership and consultation to mental health staff in the provision of mental health care to patients
- Administers full range of diagnostic tests for psychometry assessment, interprets results, and prepares psychological evaluations
- Reports results and interpretations of tests, interviews, and evaluations to the multidisciplinary team
- Assists in the identification, development and evolution of mental health programming
- Documents interactions with clients in accordance with the principles of professional practice
- Participates in program orientation and provides information to external inquiries as required
- Leads and participates in the development, and instruction/counselling during group sessions for example for anxiety, PTSD, depression, stress management
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited University with a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology
- Must be bilingual
- Registration for autonomous practice in clinical psychology with the appropriate province/licensing body
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a health service institution
