Length of Assignment: from contract award to March 31, 2013 with the option to extend for up to two (2) one (1) year option periods.
Description of Project or Company/Organization:
Calian is building a team of professional airworthiness and engineering specialists in support of the Directorate of Technical Airworthiness and Engineering Support (DTAES) organizations. (DTAES) is the regulatory agency for the technical aspects of Military AW in Canada. This team will provide engineering services in specialized aerospace fields to support and complement the skills, knowledge and experience of Weapon System Managers (WSMs) staff, Project Management Offices (PMOs) and Operational staff of the Technical Airworthiness Program within the Department of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Forces (CF), and within civilian organizations involved with military aeronautical products.
Job Description:
Your role will be to provide the Centre of Expertise with a level of support and knowledge with regards to the centre’s requirements to support the Weapon System Manager and provide adequate regulatory oversight. The Airworthiness Risk Management activities and responsibilities will also include: the development and support of the Technical Airworthiness Program (TAP), as well as technical investigation of airworthiness (AW) related matters, and engineering support of mission systems and aerospace engineering activities.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Have a university degree in electrical and/or electronic engineering from a recognized university; or Have a university degree in a science or engineering discipline, and specialized education in communication; or Graduated from a two (2) year technical program offered by a recognized technical institute related to this technical field; or
Be qualified to a QL6 or equivalent trade level relating to this related technical field; or Obtained the rank of Capt or above within the Aerospace Engineering Officer (AERE), Communications and Electronics Engineering (CELE) trade within the CF and two (2) years experience to this related technical field.
- Have specialist training and qualifications in at least one (1) of the following domains: TEMPEST/COMSEC or IT Security or Communication / Navigation Warfare.
- Must provide details, including a minimum of one (1) concrete example, of work performed that clearly demonstrates experience in each of the following areas:
a. Have a minimum of eight (8) years experience, including six (6) years in Secured Communications / NAVWAR / IFF / Datalinks.
NOTE: Postgraduate training in field of employment can count for three (3) years experience.
b. Have demonstrated experience with avionics upgrades and integration of avionics and/or mission systems in military and/or civilian type aircraft or Have demonstrated experience with (Land) Communication Warfare or SIGINT (Signal Intelligence).
- Must provide details, including at least one (1) example, of work performed or formal education that clearly demonstrates knowledge in each of the following areas:
c. Threat assessment or threat risk assessment or evaluation of threat assessment.
d. Physical and IT Security Principles.
Special Conditions:
The candidate must be Secret security cleared (Level 2).
