Description of Project or Company/Organization
Canadian Forces School of Aeorspace Technology and Enginering (CFSATE) mission is to provide effective aerospace maintenance training in support of air operations. As the cornerstone of aerospace maintenance training, CFSATE will foster a dynamic working and learning environment in both official languages that will be responsive to the evolving needs of the Air Force.
Job Description
The Course Instructor is responsible for delivering course training for all training requirements. He is also accountable for providing all course training documentation, lesson plans and student assessment & evaluation.
Course Instructor tasks may include, but not necessarily limited to, the following general tasks:
- Carry instructional tasks in accordance with approved instruction techniques while ensuring the safety and security of personnel and material;
- Prepare, maintain, and revise Instructor Lesson Plans and student study manuals consistent with current Training Plans (TPs) and approved directives;
- Maintain classrooms, laboratories and facilities in a clean, serviceable state ensuring fire, security and safety regulations are adhered to;
- Advise supervisor of all incidents which could affect the welfare of students;
- Control, scoring and analysis of all Performance Checks (PCs);
- Advise supervisor regarding deficient and unserviceable training aids and facilities;
- Originate entries in Student Record Book for the purpose of preparing course reports, counselling, etc.
- Recommend draft changes to pertinent CTSs, CTPs and course précis when required;
- Monitor students for high standard of dress, conduct and deportment;
- Provide informative feedback for middle management decisions;
- Assist the supervisor in counselling students;
- Ensure all correspondence in the form of letters, memorandum, messages and other documents are prepared IAW military writing manual prior to submission;
- Adhere to AF9000 Work Instructions, CFSATE SOPS, General Safety Program and Flight Safety Program.
Mandatory Qualifications
- A minimum of three (3) years of practical hands-on experience in a related environment; and
- Specialty courses and certifications that are directly related to multiple desired specific qualifications and equivalent to the Military Occupational Specialty Specification would be an asset.
Desirable Qualifications
- Basic Instructional Techniques (AHCH) or equivalent;
- Basic computer skills working with Windows 98 or later;
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook;
- Excellent organizational and communication (oral, written) skills;
- Previous Instructional Experience would be considered a strong asset
Education Requirements:
For Civilian Trained Personnel
- Graduation from an accredited college Aircraft Structural Repair & Maintenance Program offered by a recognized technical institute;
OR
- Eligibility for registration as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (S Rating) by a recognized Canadian licensing body; OR
For Canadian Forces Trained Personnel
- Qualified to a minimum of the QL 5 trade level (or pre-1987 equivalent).
